Victoria secret fashion show 2008

Thirty-five supermodels have strutted their stuff on a Miama catwalk, showing off an outrageous collection of underwear from lingerie house Victoria's Secret.

Models including Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosia walked the catwalk in a show consisting of naughty knickers, sexy underwear and the occasional pair of wings.

Victoria's Secret CEO Sharen Turney said the show was about glamour.

"The theme of the show is a return to glamour," said company CEO Sharen Turney.

"Victoria's Secret is about sexy, and the new sexy is glamorous for this season."

Around 68 outfits were worn by the models, including the US$5 million Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra, worn by Lima.

Designed by jeweller Martin Katz, the bra is decorated with diamonds and rubies and will be made available for sale.

Lima told Associated Press she was excited to wear it.

"I always wanted to wear the Fantasy Bra. It's the first time that Victoria's Secret makes a black diamond bra," Lima said.

"A woman could definitely buy it if they love it, and men too."

For the finale, Klum donned a red bra, red underwear and red wings, and blew kisses to the crowd.

Musician Usher closed the show, and celebrities including Paris Hilton, P Diddy and Kim Kardashian were in the crowd.

60 minutes Obama

In a wide-ranging interview broadcast Sunday evening, Barack and Michelle Obama reveled in their ability to achieve some level of normalcy again after the election, as they prepare for the enormous challenges ahead.

The president-elect said in a "60 Minutes" interview that he remains calm, but confessed feeling at least a little overwhelmed as he prepares for the White House.

"There are times, during the course of a given a day, where you think, 'Where do I start?'" he said during a session recorded Friday afternoon in Chicago at the Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Obama also said his conversations with past presidents suggest there is a "certain loneliness" to be president.

“And I think that part of this next two months is to really get a clear set of priorities, understanding we’re not going be able to do everything at once, making sure the team is in place, and moving forward in a very deliberate way and sending a clear signal to the American people that we’re going to be thinking about them and what they’re going through.”

Indonesia earthquake tsunami warning

A massive 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit eastern Indonesia early Monday, causing a temporary tsunami warning as thousands of people fled their homes.

The quake was recorded at an underwater location about 135 kilometres northwest of the island of Sulawesi, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake and subsequent tsunami warning, which has since been lifted, caused panic in nearby coastal towns.

Indonesia's local geological survey measured the earthquake at a monstrous 7.7. However, there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Indonesia's location along the so-called "Ring of Fire," which is an area of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin, makes it particularly vulnerable to earthquakes.

It was a 9.1-magnitude earthquake, the fourth-largest in more than 100 years, which hit the Indonesian island of Sumatra in December 2004.

The earthquake and subsequent tsunami, which affected 14 countries, killed more than 200,000 people and displaced nearly 1.7 million others.

How to make Cuban coffee

Cuban coffee is a type of espresso which originated in Cuba after espresso machines were first imported there from Italy. Specifically, it refers to an espresso shot which is sweetened with sugar while it is being brewed, but the name covers other drinks which use Cuban espresso as their base. Drinking café cubano remains a prominent social and cultural activity within Cuba as well as the expatriate community.

There are two methods to making coffee the Cuban way: the traditional method using a metal stovetop espresso pot, or with an electric espresso machine. While the stovetop method takes longer, its certainly the authentic method, you can find a stovetop espresso maker at most online Cuban store websites.


1. Using an espresso machine, add the desired amount of finely ground coffee, common Cuban style brands include Bustelo, Pilon and La LLave (I'm partial to Bustelo supreme, I buy the Cuban brands online from the Cuban Food Market). You can also purchase fresh whole coffee beans from supermarkets like Albertson's or Whole Foods, any of the very dark roast Colombian brands will work best for Cuban coffee. I myself grind whole beans there at the store so that it is fine, fresh and ready to be made (espresso grind setting). Do NOT store your ground coffee in a freezer, but do keep it in a cool place away from sunlight. If you insist on drinking real Cuban coffee, only one site online sells it (pictured at the bottom of this page with a link).


2. For every demitasse cup of coffee you plan on making, use a teaspoon of sugar. The key to Cuban coffee is that it be very sweet. The trick here is to put the sugar into the glass carafe before you even brew the coffee.

3. Brew the coffee just as you would an espresso. The coffee will pour over the sugar in the carafe as it begins to brew. After it is finished filling the carafe, stir it briskly as there will still be a little undissolved sugar. Pour the coffee into several demitasse cups and enjoy.

How To Choose A Hypoallergenic Dog

For people that love dogs, yet have allergic reactions to them, there is a simple alternative. If you cannot do without a four legged friend, choosing a hypoallergenic dog is without doubt the best alternative. For those who are scratching their heads wondering what one of those is, a hypoallergenic dog is not a special breed of dog. They are dogs that generate less (hypo) allergens (allergenic) in the air, which has a lot to do with both the physical size and the length of fur of the dog.

List of Hypoallergenic Dogs

Terriers – These dogs have short coats and are considered to be single-coated breeds, meaning that they do not have an undercoat. Undercoats are found on animals that have thick fur. The undercoat contains loose fur and dander, which can cause allergy attacks in both humans and other animals.

Originally used for hunting because they are small, fast, and enjoy finding their prey, terriers are now considered pets. They do not grow very large and do not spread allergens around the house like other dog breeds. Terriers should be groomed every few months to prevent allergens from building up on their coat.

Greyhounds – There are many varieties of greyhounds that you can buy. While greyhounds are considered fast, they do not like to run long distances and enjoy sitting with their owner’s for long periods of time. Since greyhounds have short hair and no undercoat, they are a good choice for those with allergies.

Some greyhounds have allergies of their own, however. You will have to monitor the dog once you bring it home to see if it is allergic to anything. Great with children, this dog is a good pet for those who have allergies and who also have a family.

Poodles – These curly haired dogs do not have an undercoat, and do not shed. Perfect for those with allergies, the poodle is a friendly dog that enjoys the company of people. While some breeds of poodle are not that friendly to children, other breeds are.

While the poodle is a good pet for those with allergies, it will have health problems as it ages. Arthritis, loss of eye sight, and other issues may occur. These are common with smaller pure bred dogs.

Bichon Frise – Even though this breed of hypoallergenic dog has an undercoat, it is very springy and will not hold much dander and hair. These dogs are small and are usually very happy. They will need to be groomed in order to maintain their signature ‘marshmallow’ look.

These dogs will also have health problems as they age.

If you are considering buying a hypoallergenic dog, you should find a breed that you will enjoy spending time with. Smaller breeds are not for everyone. If you are looking for a dog that you can take on trips, take for long walks, or you just want a larger dog, you may need to take allergy medication or allergy shots.
While these dogs are called hypoallergenic, this does not mean that you won’t have allergy issues. If you have very bad allergies, then all animals will cause you to have an allergy attack every once in a while. Depending on the how bad your allergies are will determine the type of dog you should buy.
